LaGuardia Training Procedure

Clearance Delivery/Ground

• Facility Departure Exit Fix direction guide / valid exit points
  • Student should be able to tell which fixes/VORs belong to which gate
  • Student should understand scratchpad entries and be able to input entries during SB
  • Student should understand that a scratchpad entry should not be placed when no overlying controller is present
  • Student should understand sequencing based on exit chart (Top right of the Ground section of the LGA SOP)
• Preferred routes to neighboring airports
• Common airway and route amendments
• Identification of the appropriate departure controller
• Facility specific runway configuration
• Facility specific departure procedures
• Facility specific IFR operations
• Basic Class Bravo VFR Procedures (Class B VFR Operations)
• Skyline Route Procedures
  • Student should understand when to omit an initial altitude
  • Student should understand how to include the Skyline Route phraseology into a VFR clearance
• LGA Standard Instrument Departure (SID)
  • Climbs (and their associated RNAV departure) and how they interact with JFK
  • Climbs (and their associated RNAV departure) to use based on JFK config
  • Climbs (and their associated RNAV departure) to use based on LGA config
  • 6 climbs (and their basic procedure after departure)
    • Phraseology to issue a climb
  • 5 RNAV Departure Procedures
• Appropriate Frequency and Radio name

Compliance with facility runway selection criteria

Facility specific departure heading procedures (DEP31)

• Student should understand the impact of LGA using ILS 13 on the EWR departures

Local VFR and Class Bravo procedures including visual reporting points and routes (VFR_Operations#Class_B_VFR_Operations)

Knowledge of the airspace and its boundaries

Facility specific IFR ops including: LAHSO, LUAW, and anticipated separation

Tower radar display

Missed approach/Go-Around procedures

Facility Specific Departure Control Airspace & Delegation

• Student should understand the SUL operations and how the LGA configuration changes what they can/can't do

N90 Liberty Departure Procedures

• Student should understand when and how to hand off departures when Liberty Departure is staffed or covered by another position (typically, New York Center)
• Student should understand when and how to hand off/release departures when Liberty Departure is NOT staffed
  • Student should know how this procedure changes when BOS_CTR is online/offline

Appropriate position relief & transfer of control procedures (Basic Control Procedures#Signing On and #Sign Off, Basic Control Procedures#Position Relief Briefings)

• Student should understand which controllers online could assume control of the position (NY_CTR, LGA_V_APP, or a N90 controller capable of covering LGA Departures)

Providing Services to Satellite Facilities

• Student should understand the interactions between departures from KLGA and KHPN
