Harrisburg Class C

This change, effective immediately, is targeted to modify ARTCC policy.

The purpose of this Mandatory Briefing Item is to modify the Harrisburg SOP.

Background

This MBI amends the VFR Departures section of the Harrisburg SOP, to reflect the recent changes in airspace.

Airspace Changes

The Harrisburg Class C airspace has been established at Harrisburg International Airport (MDT), replacing the MDT Class D airspace. This affects some VFR procedures, for more information, see the VFR Operations document.

Airspace delegation has also been amended due to the change in airspace:

  • Harrisburg local control is delegated the surface area of the Class C from SFC to 2,800 ft.
  • Capital City local control is delegated the CXY Class D, from SFC to but not including the bottom of the Class C.
